smar is a smart alarm app for Android. This policy describes what data the app collects and how it is used.

Data Collection

Alarm Data

Your alarms, triggers, and rules are stored locally on your device in a database. This data is never uploaded to any server. There is no cloud sync, no account system, and no way for us to access your alarm data.

Voice Input

When you use voice input, your speech is processed by Google's SpeechRecognizer service (built into Android). This requires an internet connection. Google's processing of your voice data is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Text-to-Alarm Processing

When you create an alarm using text or voice, your input text is sent to a cloud API (via a proxy server) to convert it into a structured alarm. The proxy server does not store your input. The API provider (Google Gemini) processes the text to extract alarm details. No personal data beyond the alarm description is sent.

Trial Status

Trial status (an anonymous device identifier and trial start date) is sent to our proxy server to manage free trial eligibility. No personal data is included.

Purchase Verification

When you purchase the premium unlock, your purchase token is sent to our proxy server to verify the transaction with Google Play. No payment details (card number, billing address) are sent. Only the opaque purchase token issued by Google.

Crash Reporting

The app uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports. When the app crashes, the following is sent automatically:

  • Device model and manufacturer
  • Android version
  • App version
  • Stack trace (technical error details)
  • An anonymous device identifier

Crashlytics does NOT collect your alarm messages, spoken text, voice recordings, or any personal content.

On-Device Logs

The app maintains a rolling log file on your device for debugging purposes. This file contains technical events (alarm scheduled, network error, etc.) but never contains your alarm messages or spoken text. The log file is only shared if you explicitly tap "Send Feedback" in Settings.

Data NOT Collected

  • We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any personal information
  • We do not collect your alarm messages or spoken text
  • We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs
  • We do not share data with third parties (except as described above for voice processing, text parsing, and crash reporting)
  • We do not use analytics beyond crash reporting

Data Storage

All alarm data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes all local data.
